Tunnel Kiln Fast Firing Without Cracks: Quality Brick Production Guide

For high-quality solid bricks, perforated bricks, and hollow blocks, fast firing must not sacrifice quality. Tunnel kiln fast firing with zero cracks relies on moisture control, reasonable setting, balanced ventilation, and precise temperature curve.

1. Low moisture input: the first key to no cracks

  • High residual moisture causes steam explosion and cracking during rapid heating.
  • Keep moisture ≤3%; hot dry bricks can bear faster temperature rise.

2. Sparse setting: uniform heating & stress reduction

  • Dense setting leads to local overheating or underheating, increasing thermal shock risk.
  • Sparser setting (10–15% less dense) ensures consistent temperature across the kiln.
  • Straight, aligned kiln cars with clear gaps improve airflow and reduce cracking.

3. Balanced ventilation: avoid under-firing & cold cracks

  • Strong enough airflow ensures complete combustion and uniform temperature.
  • Too much air cools bricks quickly, causing cold cracks; too little leads to under-firing.

4. Precise temperature control: stable sintering & fast cycle

  • Optimize preheating → firing → cooling curve.
  • Raise firing temp by 10–15°C (material safe) and shorten holding time.
  • Avoid rapid temperature jumps, especially at 573°C quartz inversion zone.

5. Fuel & combustion optimization

  • Higher internal combustion reduces temperature fluctuation.
  • Clean fuels like natural gas provide stable flame and reduce brick surface defects.

Fast firing + stable quality is achievable with dry bricks, sparse setting, balanced ventilation, and precise control. Ideal for export-grade bricks and high-standard wall materials.
